• A: You do NOT need to be a Boy Scout or a Girl Scout to be an Explorer.

Q: How are the adults involved?

• A: Our adult Advisors are professional first responders, background checked, and eager to share their knowledge and experience! While the program is "Explorer-led", the Advisors are at every meeting to mentor, teach, lead, and well... advise. :)

Q: How often do Fire Explorers meet?

• A: Fire Explorers meet for three hours every other week. (Verify specifics with your home department)

Q: Does this involve fighting ACTUAL fire?

• A: Safety comes first. Explorers are never placed in situations that threaten their health or well-being. Explorers train in a controlled environment. Drills involving live fire are taught in a training facility. Explorers train with real firefighting gear, hoses, tools, radios, and even the actual fire engines!

Q: What kind of Firefighter skills do Fire Explorers learn?

• A: Fire Explorers learn all the basic skills of Firefighting, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). And of course, valuable life skills. Click here for the full list.
