It's no secret that participation in Volunteer Fire Departments is at an all-time low.
And Fire Exploring is feeling this too...
A survey was conducted with over 50 students (males and females, ages 12-21) to investigate why they have not joined a Post. Surprisingly, over 50% thought they could not be a Firefighter AND their chosen career...
THE MYTH:
"Firefighting is not for me because I have different career interests." "I can't be a ____ and a Firefighter. I have to pick."
THE TRUTH:
YOU CAN SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY ALONGSIDE YOUR CHOSEN PROFESSION.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO GIVE UP YOUR CAREER TO BE A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER.
