It's no secret that participation in Volunteer Fire Departments is at an all-time low. 

And Fire Exploring is feeling this too... 

Ignite the Gold is a project all about getting teens into the fire services through the Fire Explorer Program. Fire Exploring has amazing, unique benefits! Programs and Posts have been advertising these benefits for years, but sadly, we are getting a lesser turnout than the work we are putting in... This project flipped the script. 

A survey was conducted with over 50 students (males and females, ages 12-21) to investigate why they have not joined a Post. Why aren't you a Fire Explorer? I sent out the survey and got over 50 responses back! The results were eye-opening! 

50% of Teens said their main reason for not joining was because they have different career interests.

27% said they did not actually know what an Explorer Post did! 

And only 17% said they think it's too much of a time commitment.

My hope is that this effort rewrites the story. Do the impossible. Ignite the Gold.
